Neon lights are still awake
But the streets lost their sound
Billboards promise brighter days
No one reads them now
Yesterday the news said
Everything would grow
But every corner now just says
Another store to go
Coffee getting colder
Dreams are getting small
Resumes fall like stones tonight
Into a silent wall
Numbers in my bank account
Fade like ocean tide
Taking every footprint
We tried to leave behind
Everybody looking up
But nobody will say
Is tomorrow really coming
Or just fading grey
Grey sunshine
Falling on an empty street
In the crowd
Every heart has lost its beat
Time moves on
But the world feels stuck in place
If the future really lives
Why won’t it show its face
Grey sunshine
Wind between the towers high
City lights
But no answers in the sky
Contracts getting thinner
Promises getting old
Office lights still shining
But nobody feels bold
They say wait
They say try
They say things will turn around
But the elevator keeps going down
Clock ticking
Plans missing
Hope turning to dust
Everybody selling dreams
Nobody we trust
If tomorrow really calls
Why can’t we hear the sound
Suddenly the city feels quiet
Like someone pressed pause
If tomorrow still exists
Send a signal through the noise
Grey sunshine
Shining through a hollow day
We’re still here
Standing in the same old place
Maybe hope is just far away
Past another street
Morning comes again
But no one cheers
Wind takes the paper dreams
