Pack it up, cut the losses
Another long night of writing duds in the office
Wind your neck in, pull the socket
New song sounding like a stain in some boxers
Mixdown really sucks
Guess I gotta suck it up
Shut the laptop, get the door
Then we lock it up
Four in the morning
Leave the studio sulking
Walk of shame
Stepping with the eyes all swollen
Pressed a couple buttons and we muddied up the whole mix
Now we’re walking home and calculating how we might quit
I think we walked for maybe twenty minutes
Heard a rustle in a bin — what the fuck — so we looked in it
There was a little orange rabbit peeping out
Maybe he’d been trailing right behind us for a while
Told him hit the road, covers blown, you should jog on
Piss off — but he kept hopping
And the bunny said…
“What are you saying? I don’t speak it.
All this rabbit gibberish that you’re squeaking.
I only got on me like 50p,
No carrots or whatever you eat.”
Shit kicker, your time’s ticking
You best dip off, there ain’t shit to eat for dinner
I tried to squish it, my boot missed it
Little dickhead, the bunny skipped off into the distance
The next morning we rock up and unpack
Listen back to the tune — yep, it’s still clapped
And as I’m dragging the file, putting it in trash
We heard a knock on the door — fuck, he’s come back
Scumbag let himself in, the door swung back
Thought about stamping him flat, I should’ve done that
Hopping round critiquing our song, he said it sounds bad
Then he let himself in the booth and the rabbit says:
“What the fuck, I’ll admit it —
Rabbit’s literally spitting.
Do you… that was a nice addition.
Shit, I’ll admit it.
Do you have a publisher?
And how should we split it?
50/50 or whatever digits would fit it?
I think this shit might have literally fixed it.”
The rabbit said he spit it just to get it off his mind
He thinks our band is flopping and the numbers on decline
If we can raise a hundred K then we can hit his line
Then he bunny-hopped right out the window with the file
