Static Hearts and Empty Pockets - Zyric Kane

I found the tea set we bought in the spring
A delicate white and porcelain thing
It fell from the shelf when I slammed the front door
And shattered like starlight across the dark floor
I tried to gather the pieces and piles
To reconstruct all of our practiced-in smiles
But the edges are jagged the patterns are wrong
And the glue is too weak to keep us this long
Now they're just broken ceramic smiles
Trailing across the hallway in jagged white mouths
You can't drink the tea if the cup is a ghost
And you can't hold the hand of the one you miss most
It's a painted-on happy a glaze of I'm fine
Cracking under the weight of this silence of mine
A porcelain tragedy a delicate art
Just the short surrounding shards of a heart
I glue back a saucer I glue back a lid
But I can't hide the damage of the things that we did
The gold leaf is flaking the flowers are torn
In a kitchen that's cold in a spirit that's warm
It looks like a face if I squint in the light
But it won't hold a candle in the middle of night
Hollowed out green on a fraction of shelf
The only thing left to my former-day self
Careful where you step careful where you breathe
There's a splinter of us on my tattered-up sleeve
If I sweep it away then the floor is just wood
And I'm not quite as whole as I thought that I should
Yeah they're just broken ceramic smiles
Shoulda 'cross the hallways in jacket white mine
You can't drink the tea if the cup is a ghost
And you can't hold the hand of the one you miss most
Since I paint it on happy glaze of I'm fine
Cracking under the weight of this silence of mine
Porcelain tragedy delicate up
Just the sharp ceramic sharp of us
Under my heels
Is what I feel just why dust
And I paint it on leave
Huuuuuuuuuuuuu
The sound of a single shard
Spinning on a hard floor until it stops
